Abstract

This research deals with one of the topics that the field of political geography is interested in, which is the global classification of the countries of the world in terms of their geographical area, as this classification characteristic enjoys international importance for all countries of the world, specifically within the second half of the last century and up to the present time, from several reflections represented by successive political events and the role of major countries and their changing and developing interests that would work to dismantle countries or reduce them in terms of dividing them in order to completely dominate them, so countries of various sizes were born, including medium-sized countries, which are widespread in the continents of the world, and enjoy their membership within the provisions of international law and international organizations governed by the United Nations, and the medium-sized countries of the Latin American continent are represented by the two continental landlocked locations represented by one country, which is (Paraguay) and the coastal location represented by one country, which is (Ecuador), and this description of medium-sized countries adds to the Latin American continent the advantage of diversity in the classifications of the different countries of the world by area, and that medium-sized countries in the continents of the world It varies and differs in its capabilities in terms of the geographical area it possesses, this is what we will present in this research and rely on it in the study, as other classifications have appeared that represent the personal points of view of other researchers, and they are multiple, and we mention among them the classification of the researcher (Harm Deblij) for the size of the areas of the countries of the world, as his classification was a five-classification, whic (very large, large, medium, small, dwarf countries).
